“Everything changes” is one of the cardinal rules of existence. So as my personal life circumstances have changed, and as businesses enshittify themselves (I’m looking at you, Draft2Digital), I’ve decided to offer my books as free downloads. For the time being, and until circumstances change again, my novels Moral Compass, Paradise West, Lost Souls, and Bumper City (a novella, really) are free to download via the “Books” menu at the top of the page.
These are the conditions:
- These downloads are EPUB files, so you will need an EPUB-friendly device or app to read them.
- WordPress (talk about enshittification!) is a bit close-minded about the EPUB format, so availability is beyond my control, and may disappear at any moment that WordPress chooses.
- The files have been checked for viruses, malware, etc., at the time of upload. However, you, the hapless reader, assume any risks or consequences of downloading the files.
- These downloads are for individual use only and are not to be shared, distributed, copied, altered, folded, spindled, or mutilated. If you want to inflict my books on your enemies, they can retrieve the files themselves.
- I don’t require you to create an account, provide an email address, sign up for a Patreon, or take any other step. I have my own private information, I don’t care about yours. However, if you read any of my books and enjoy them, a kind word is always appreciated. (I can’t vouch for what surveillance WordPress conducts when you view a WordPress site like this one.)
- Finally, regardless of what books you choose, mine or others, enjoy. As the Lady of the Library says, “Books save lives, so keep reading.”
